TECHNO POST GRADUATION PROGRAM

TECHNO offers a two-year full time dual specialization programme. The curriculum lays the foundation for a conceptual and analytical understanding of Indian and international business. TECHNO’s programme is designed to closely integrate current management theory and practice.
The course imparts knowledge and fosters attitudes essential for the growth of students into competent, responsible managers. The course has evolving programme content and is constantly updated to be in tune with the emerging trends.

PARTICIPANT PROFILE

Participants for the program may be from any discipline such as Engineering, Humanities, Commerce, Economics, Medicine or any other branch of education. The candidature welcomes both freshers and those with relevant work experience.

OBJECTIVES

ORIENTATION PROGRAM

The purpose of a comprehensive induction and orientation programmes is to go beyond familiarizing students with the campus and other fellow students, and in fact to acclimatize them with what programme is all about and what it takes to be a successful manager or an entrepreneur. How can TECHNO transform them to realize their ambition; What support they must draw from the Institute in transforming themselves, are some of the other aspects to infuse their interest in the management career. PROGRAM STRUCTURE

TECHNO is known for the depth and rigour of the programme. The curriculum, reviewed and revised periodically, remain relevant and contemporary.

Following the first year programme, students undertake summer training with Institute’s corporate partners for a period of eight to nine weeks. The Summer Internship is a powerful source of practical managerial insights, validation of management concepts, and valuable market knowledge.

The elective courses which are offered in the second year of the programme allow students to choose a bouquet of courses that interest them and develop proficiency in the areas of their choice. The elective courses consists of in-class courses, often with project components, offered by different areas, courses of independent study, exchange programmes, and intensive field courses along with Live Projects.

MARKETING

Being a Marketing Specialist programme, the course equips participants with fundamental marketing management skills and in-depth knowledge of building customer centric organization. Based on the way the marketing function has evolved as well as current turbulent times and emerging market needs, the programme focuses on imparting education, covering both core marketing area courses as well as carefully selected classic and contemporary elective courses in the areas of retailing & merchandising, marketing communications, services marketing, international marketing, rural marketing and general marketing.

The programme is challenging, hence a large part of learning is based on applied research, live projects and internship, besides class room conceptualization and cases, quizzes, term papers, written examinations, case submissions and discussions, etc. Besides large number of core marketing and other functional areas and strategy courses, the participants study innovative courses in Internet Marketing, Below-the-line Marketing, Event Marketing, Bottom of Pyramid Marketing, Rural Marketing, Financial Services Marketing, Sports Marketing, Green Marketing, etc.

FINANCE

HUMAN RESOURCE

In today’s changing scenario, the HR function has grown to become a key component of organizational strategy. As businesses constantly evolve, the dynamics of HR must also keep pace. This is possible only when an organization’s most valued assets i.e employees are capable of seeing the bigger picture thereby help organizations gain a competitive advantage.

With Management Course, students would be able to understand the importance of HR in today’s world. Specialized courses in the HR curriculum build an intricate web comprising recruitment, mentoring, training and employee performance and management. TECHNO follows a system of continuous evaluation. Throughout the term, students are tested on their ability to understand concepts, learn techniques and apply them to problems in the real world. At each stage of the course, the students would be in a position to assess their performance and take measures to make improvements. The evaluation is based on the continuous internal evaluation and end-term assessment.

ADDITIONAL ACCOLADES

CORPORATES SESSIONS

Corporates and business leaders play an integral part in course development and delivery at TECHNO. This is to ensure that the courses being offered are relevant and updated to meet the current as well as future needs of the business world.

Faculty members plan the course delivery and session plan well in advance. This includes identifying the topics which would be best delivered by practitioners from the industry and also identifying as well as contacting the practitioners considered most suitable to deliver the topic. The faculty member then works closely with the practitioners to sensitize them to the level of knowledge of the students; the requirements related to concepts to be covered; defining a broad framework for the sessions; and developing reading materials and assignments.

At TECHNO, 25-30% of every course is delivered by senior executives from corporate world and the rest is delivered by the faculty member in-charge. This approach of practitioner involvement in development and delivery of courses has several advantages:

> Facilitates mentorship program, a program where experienced industry professionals would mentor students in their career
choices, project selections, specialization areas etc.

INTERNSHIP PROGRAM

TECHNO offers a comprehensive 8-10 week Internship Program (IP) in the intervening Summer Term between the first and second years of course work. Under this, students undergo faculty-supervised internship in an organization to apply the knowledge they have acquired during the first year of their program and bridge the perceived gap between theory and practice. The IP enables students to experience the rigors of the professional environment, both in terms of form and substance. It provides them with opportunities to learn and practice business knowledge and professional behavior.

ELECTIVES

TECHNO’s programs address the varied aspirations of students through offering electives. It follows an Open Ended approach wherein a student has the flexibility in choosing electives. A student who wants to specialize in a particular stream has to choose the same. An elective course will be offered if a minimum of 15 students opt for it.

LIVE PROJECT

The Live Project (LP) is another unique feature in TECHNO curriculum which has been included to ensure practice oriented learning. It spreads over both semesters of the second year and carries a total of eight credits. The objective of LP is to facilitate the process of attaining a higher level of knowledge and expertise in the field of study chosen by the students. It will help the students to integrate the learning in multiple areas and address a comprehensive question of relevance to the management discipline. This also inculcates the art of conducting independent inquiry and evaluation which is useful both in industry and for later academic pursuits. The project would be based on a real-time business issue, preferably as a continuation of the Internship Program work.
